Description

The driving forces behind human history are non-physical forces that manifest as thoughts, ideas, feelings and willpower – both conscious and subconscious – which are expressed in external historic events. History studies external events and to some extent the inner lives of people, but not the driving forces of life.

The physicalist framework of thought that has been dominant in academia since 1850 has hitherto excluded any connection to the supraphysical spiritual realm. Now that multiple scientific disciplines, from physics to psychology, are providing evidence of the relative triviality of external, observable reality and space-time, physicalism is no longer a first principle of knowledge.

In academic historical research, Goethean spiritual science alone can provide the much needed context that can lead to a true understanding of world history and the evolution of humanity.

Laura M. Slot (1984) is a historian and writer with a focus on outsiders in twentieth century intellectual history, the history of ideas. She received graduate degrees from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York and the Department of History at Utrecht University in The Netherlands. Slot’s first book described the limits of philosopher Bertrand Russell’s pacifism and her other writings have appeared in American and Dutch publications. www.lauraslot.com
